The first quarter of Grade 11 has come to a close, leaving me with a mix of emotions: exhaustion, accomplishment, and a newfound appreciation for the challenges and rewards of being an ABM student. This journey, though demanding, has been a valuable learning experience, shaping my perspective and pushing me to grow both academically and personally.
The transition from junior high to senior high was initially daunting. The ABM curriculum, with its emphasis on accounting, business, and management, felt like a whole new world. Suddenly, I was grappling with financial statements, market analysis, and business ethics - concepts that were previously foreign to me. The workload was heavier, the pace was faster, and the expectations were higher. It felt like I was constantly playing catch-up, trying to absorb new information and adapt to the demands of this new academic landscape.
The biggest challenge, however, was not just the academic rigor, but also the adjustment to a new environment. Gone were the familiar faces and comfortable routines of junior high. I was surrounded by new classmates, teachers, and expectations. Navigating this unfamiliar territory took time and effort. I had to learn to be more independent, take initiative, and build new relationships. It was a process of trial and error, filled with moments of self-doubt and frustration, but also moments of unexpected joy and connection.
Despite the struggles, I found myself drawn to the practicality and relevance of the ABM curriculum. The concepts we learned in class, though initially challenging, felt connected to the real world. I began to understand the intricacies of business, the importance of financial literacy, and the impact of economic decisions on our society. This newfound understanding ignited a spark of curiosity and a desire to learn more.
The first quarter also taught me the importance of time management and self-discipline. The increased workload demanded a more structured approach to my studies. I had to learn to prioritize tasks, manage my time effectively, and stay organized. It was a constant balancing act between academics, extracurricular activities, and personal time. As I move forward, I carry with me the lessons learned and the dedication to excel, knowing that the challenges I have faced have made me stronger and more prepared for the future.
